Chronic absence– missing 10% of the school year or just two days a month– can put a student off-track academically. How can educators use attendance data to craft a comprehensive tiered response that helps your students make school every day a possibility?
Cecelia Leong, Associate Director for Programs at Attendance Works, joined us on Thursday, October 5th to discuss:
Since joining Attendance Works in 2011, Cecelia has helped expand the technical assistance resources available to communities across the country. In addition to facilitating peer-to-peer sharing through a virtual learning community with nearly 2,000 participants, she identifies emerging needs in reducing chronic absence and creates innovative tools such as online toolkits, videos and webinars to address them. Prior to joining Attendance Works, Cecelia worked for a variety of organizations that focus on district and school reform initiatives. Cecelia has an AB from Harvard University and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley.
